CHINTECH PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS

Chintech offers scholarship for students to provide encouragement to meritorious and support to needy students who took admission in MCA or MBA at Chinmaya Institute of Technology, Kannur.

Chintech shall offer scholarship to 18 students for each program. There are three categories:

Pure merit:(three students)

Merit cum Means: (six students)

Chinmaya Protsahan:(nine students) for students who completed undergraduate degree from Chinmaya Institutes.

Following are the guidelines for offering scholarship:

1. Pure Merit Scholarship : Five percent of students (i.e. three students) shall be awarded a scholarship of (Rs. 30,000/- for MBA, Rs. 25,000/- for MCA each semester) based on pure merit (qualifying degree/ semester examination marks should be (i) for MCA 80% or above, (ii)for MBA 75% or above and the criteria mentioned in #5 and #7.

2. Merit cum Means Scholarship: Ten percent of students (i.e. six students) shall be awarded a scholarship of (Rs. 15,000/- for MBA, Rs. 12,500/- for MCA each semester) based on merit cum means for students with actual family annual income less than Rs. Two Lakhs and marks (I) for MCA 75% or above, (ii) for MBA 70% or above  (in qualifying degree/ semester examinations) and the criteria mentioned in #5 and #7.

3. Chinmaya Protsahan Scholarship: Students from Chinmaya Mission run Colleges (those who studied at Chinmaya Mission run Colleges for degree) with marks 65% or above for both MCA and MBA in undergraduate degree and subsequent semesters, shall be eligible for a scholarship of (Rs. 10,000/- for MBA, Rs. 8,000/- for MCA each semester), subject to a maximum of nine students, and the criteria mentioned in #5 and #7.

4. A separate merit list shall be prepared by the appointed committee for the Award of Scholarship each semester after the publication of previous semester's examination result for each category, i.e. pure merit, merit cum means and Chinmaya Protsahan; based on the criteria as mentioned in #5, #7 and below. For each category based on the merit list scholarship shall be awarded.

5. Prerequisite for award of scholarship is good conduct, continued progress in academics and soft skills (communication skills, leadership, initiative and participation in extra curricular activities).

6. Scholarship is offered for one semester at a time. Students need to apply afresh each semester for the scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship for the following semester a student has to pass in all the subject examinations for a semester in the first attempt and score the required percentage of marks, and apply afresh for the scholarship each semester.

7. To calculate merit for the first semester, student's qualifying degree examination and entrance test score  shall be considered; for the rest of the semesters previous semester's examination result and soft skills (items mentioned in #1)  shall be considered. For soft skills weight shall be as given below: continued progress in communication skills 5 marks, Leadership 5 marks, Initiative 5 marks, participation in extra-curricular activities 5 marks. A committee to be formed consisting of faculty members, Director and the Principal for award of scholarship.

Details and Clarifications:

For annual income of the family, validation shall be done by the Institute independently. Decision of the Institute shall be final and binding.

Students shall have to submit income proof with all supporting documents at the time of admission. Family income cannot be revised downwards but if updated family income cross the limit set for scholarship then students shall forfeit claim to scholarship.

If income proof submitted by a student is found incorrect, she/he shall forfeit claim to scholarship and refund scholarship amount with interest (if scholarship already availed).
All the students fulfilling income criteria shall be sort based on merit criteria mentioned at #5 and #7.
In case of tie student with lesser income would have preference, in case of further tie a student with higher performance in soft skills shall have preference.

If a student becomes eligible for scholarship after publication of results in a semester (he/she was not eligible in the preceding semester because of less marks), he/she can apply for the scholarship.
At any given time student can avail only one scholarship; either from the institute or any other agency.
Extra curricular activities include social and spiritual activities undertaken by the Institute and Chinmaya Mission.
Decision of the Institute shall be final and binding in all issues related to Chinmaya Scholarship.
