Seminar Guidelines for faculty Members :
A seminar coordinator will be assigned for each class at the beginning of the semester.
Responsibilities of Seminar Coordinators include :
Decide on the deadlines for selecting seminar topic, approval of synopsis, project report and passing this information to the students
Ensure that students submit the seminar topic on the specified date.
Ensure that seminar topics are not repeated in a class.
Prepare the schedule of seminars and display it on the notice board atleast one week before the start of seminar.
Ensure that the seminar report is submitted on time.
Take a printout of the form available here to enter all details related to the seminar.
Collect marks from the seminar guides for the seminar report after the report is submitted.
Attending the seminars of all students in the concerned class.
Ask questions to ensure that the student is well prepared for the seminar.
Give feedback to the student after the seminar.
Motivate students who feel less confident.
Ensure that all schedules are strictly followed.
Evaluate the seminar presentation.
The seminar coordinator of each class should maintain a file for awarding marks just after the seminar presentation based on the following criteria :
Presentation and Content : 10
Communication Skills : 5
Maintaining Interest : 2.5
Query Clearing : 5
Time Keeping : 2.5
Prepare the consolidated mark list of seminar of the concerned batch by the end of the semester.
A guide will be selected by each student for seminar. It is the responsibility of the guide to give proper guidance (for topic, content, preparation ) to the student.
Responsibilities of the guide include :
Advice the student to select a topic from the guide's area of interest.
Ensure that the seminar topic is challenging enough.
Ensure that synopsis of the seminar is submitted on time by the student.
Suggest modifications to the synopsis if required.
Ask the student to send the soft copy of the report atleast 10 days before the submission of seminar report. Guide should ensure that the seminar report is not cut and paste or only downloaded work, seminar report has to be product of study by the student. Guides are responsible for the quality of work presented or submitted by the students and it also reflects how good a guide is.
Read the soft copy and suggest modifications.
Allow the student to take hard copy only after the soft copy is approved.
Evaluate the seminar report before the presentation.
Ask the student to send the presentation 7 days before the seminar.
Sit with the student while checking the slides
Ask questions to ensure that student has prepared well
Suggest modifications to the slides if required
Motivate the student to perform well.
Attend the seminar of the student if possible.
Give feedback after the seminar.
5. Seminar Evaluators should ensure that students are well prepared with the seminar by asking questions.
6. Seminar Evaluators should ask the student to repeat the seminar, if the presentation is not upto the mark.
6. Seminar Report will carry 25 Marks and will be evaluated based on the following criteria :
Originality :5
Content :10
Organization of Content :5
Formatting :5
7. Seminar Presentation will carry 25 Marks and will be evaluated based on the following criteria :
Presentation and Content : 10
Communication Skills : 5
Maintaining Interest : 2.5
Query Clearing : 5
Time keeping : 2.5
